Old World Afternoon - Styled Shoot

We borrowed a few of Caitlin's mom's books for the shoot. And her coffee table, and her wine, and her candles... thanks Mom!

We set up this impromptu picnic under an old and lovely orange tree.

We loved the detail and the color of these candles placed on an old amber glass butter dish.

We chose rich red dahlias, cream peonies, funky green brunia, dry umbrella, coffee berry and eucalyptus to create a textured traditional arrangement.

Macaroons are a good idea anytime.

A funky little boutonniere made from eucalyptus & brunia set on a gorgeous beaded napkin says "dress up! this is an old fashioned picnic."

This overflowing centerpiece says romance to the max.

We set a boutonniere and a corsage at the place settings, one for him, one for her. Our green glass plates sparkled beautifully on the dark wood table too.

We plucked a few avocados, eggplants, & limes from Caitlin's mom's backyard. Delish.

Gorgeous cut glassware, gold bangles, a dahlia corsage, an intricately beaded napkin, and an emerald green plate make quite a statement for a "simple" picnic.

Miniature cupcakes are the perfect bit of sweet for an afternoon snack.

We set all this up in about 30 frantic minutes. We were racing the clock but Samantha used every moment to get a gorgeous set of photos.

We decided to throw in a bridal bouquet, who knows, maybe it was a REALLY romantic picnic that ended in a casual wedding.

This gold edged dark green ribbon was a spectacular edition to an already beautiful bouquet. We just couldn't resist a little bling!

A wire bird cage, oil lamp, and trunk added an extra little umph to the setting.

We had fun making our fake little cupcakes from clay and spackling paste. 0 calories!

Samantha was such a champ. This whole set up was under a tree, basically at noon when one really does not want to be shooting a styled shoot. Lots of mottled light came through the tree but Samantha was able to capture a golden glow and roll with the punches.

A large lantern for later in the evening...
